The Waltz

The name of the Waltz is taken from the Italian ‘volver’ - to turn.

The Waltz is in 3/4 time with the accent on the first beat and a basic pattern of step-step-close

At first religous leaders regarded the Waltz as sinful.

To the Continental courts it looked too much like sex.

This at first puzzled me but I once dated an Austrian Baroness who told me Europeans don't use their hips in bed.
